Wakayama's Awesome Beetles

Summertime in Japan means insects, and lots of them.  This works just fine for me.

The Beetles 

of this Pacific archipelago are particularly fascinating.  

Beetles of all shapes, sizes and colors can be found here.  

Some are iridescent green and of modest size while others are Goliaths among their kin donning armor and horns reminiscent of prehistoric reptiles.

One commonality these magnificent creatures share is that they are all awesome!
