While Taro and I were SANPO (walking) on our usual course through the bamboo forest and along SANGAME IKE ("Three Turtle Pond" I named it myself because there are three species of turtle inhabiting the pond), we found a small Nihon Ishigame (Japanese Stone Turtle). The cute turtle was inside a concrete irrigation channel, walking down the hill.
The Ishigame can commonly be seen in and around ponds, rivers, and tanbos (rice fields).
